Executive Summary
Connecting to the Japanese markets is hard — and harder still for the unusual ones. Over many years Touch-Fire built and operated the gateways that bring leading third-party trading platforms into Japan, including the exchange-traded CFD and FX market at the Tokyo Financial Exchange (TFX) and Touch-Fire's own institutional dark pool. Rather than a separate bespoke build per vendor, every platform rides a single, comprehensive low-latency gateway.
Each vendor keeps its own instrument and account mapping codes; the gateway translates them to the venue, applies pre-trade risk, manages the order lifecycle, and delivers post-trade and clearing data back. The result: global platforms reach Japanese liquidity quickly and reliably, and Touch-Fire absorbs the venue-specific complexity on their behalf.
The Platforms We Connected
Four very different platforms, four different destinations — all through one gateway.
| Platform | Routed to | What made it interesting |
| CQG |
TFX (exchange-traded CFD/FX) & Touch-Fire dark pool |
Institutional access to TFX's unusual listed CFD/FX market and to off-exchange crossing. |
| InterTrade |
TFX (exchange-traded CFD/FX) |
Required swap-point, interest and dividend rates delivered downstream so it could produce statements and risk. |
| Bloomberg |
TOCOM (domestic commodities) |
Inbound connectivity letting overseas Bloomberg users trade the domestic Tokyo Commodity Exchange. |
| MetaTrader 5 |
TOCOM & OSE |
Futures routing for a retail platform, with legacy MT5 account balances updated directly. |
Results & Impact
Four global platforms reach TFX, TOCOM, the OSE and the Touch-Fire dark pool through one gateway — instead of four separate, costly venue integrations.
Every platform keeps its own symbology and account codes, and inherits risk, order management and post-trade without rebuilding them.
The quirks of TFX's exchange-traded CFD/FX market, TOCOM access and MT5's legacy ledger are handled by Touch-Fire — invisible to the connecting platform.
